Schools and Teachers
From July, 2002
to October 2003, 36 science and math teachers from six schools (six per
school) and six principals participated in three intensive
week-long training sessions totaling over 120 hours of professional
development and each teacher has completed an additional 360 hours of
classroom implementation to impact a total of 6,000+ students.
Initially, the national
coordinating agencies (see
Partners) selected
one public and one private school from each of the three countries to initiate and support ongoing cooperation and collaboration
among educators from public and private schools. Each school then
selected 2 teachers to participate in the first phase of the project
making a total of 12 teachers and 6 principals. Under a
train-the-trainer model, each teacher was responsible for and conducted
training to an additional two teachers per school in the use of the the
curriculum and training materials over the course of the of the
implementation of the project.
